Good Things Don’t Always Last

Good things don’t always last…

Like that video editing software I downloaded that expired after fourteen days whilst I was in the middle of a huge video project.

Like the flavor of Juicy Fruit gum.

Like fall colors.

Like the very occasional snow we get here in this part of the States.

Like the batteries in graphing calculators that inexplicably perish in the middle of a future-determining standardized test.

Like vacations.

Like all that Christmas money you were toting around before you lost your wallet.

Like peanut butter fudge after Eva finds it.

Like the feeling of productivity of a day that fades as you wake to the next.

Like the one turn you get on crane machines in arcades.

Like summer break and “welcome back to reality.”

Like gasoline in your car.

Like air when you’re scuba diving.

Like getting tired of a good song because you have played it way too many times.

Like a book or movie or a song or a story or a poem or a life.

Like inspiration.
